The Company Our client is on a mission to simplify complex construction projects through shared visibility. Founded in New Zealand in 2017, they’ve developed a visual progress tracking platform that’s trusted by some of the largest construction companies across New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States.
By combining advanced camera technology with intelligent software, they empower project teams to stay on schedule, reduce risk, validate claims and communicate more effectively. The company is growing fast — not just in size, but in influence — and they’re seeking passionate, ambitious people to help them drive the next wave of product innovation.
The Role This is a critical hire for the business and a unique opportunity to lead the end-to-end hardware lifecycle for the company’s advanced imaging systems and accessories.
As Lead Hardware Engineer, you’ll be responsible for architecting and developing all aspects of hardware systems, creating new products from the ground up, improving and supporting existing hardware, and managing key partnerships across design, manufacturing, and supply chain. You’ll also play a crucial role in embedded software development, from low-level firmware to Linux-based systems, ensuring seamless integration across hardware and software layers.
You’ll be joining a values-driven team that operates with intent, cares deeply about its customers, and thrives on continuous improvement. In this role, you’ll have true ownership, the autonomy to innovate, and the support of world-class collaborators.

- Develop new hardware products to expand the company’s portfolio, with a focus on real-world reliability and elegant simplicity.
- Build and maintain embedded systems across multiple layers, including Linux (Yocto), device trees, and microcontroller firmware.
- Collaborate closely with external contract manufacturers and design partners to ensure scalable, high-quality production.
- Work with global suppliers to source and evaluate key components including power modules, battery systems, and enclosures.
- Partner with product, software, logistics, and operations teams to ensure hardware is delivered on time, on budget, and fully integrated.
- Own technical documentation, test plans, design guides, and manufacturing instructions to support scalability and team knowledge.
What You Bring - A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or similar technical field
- Demonstrated experience bringing complex hardware products to market
- 5+ years in embedded hardware development, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and debugging
- Strong experience with embedded Linux (Yocto), kernel configuration, and device trees
- Excellent project management skills across electrical, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines
- Deep understanding of digital and analog electronics, power systems, communications interfaces, and security best practices for IoT systems
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and a solid grasp of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test)
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards (FCC, CE, UL, etc.)
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with excellent communication and collaboration skills
Why You’ll Love Working Here - Your work directly contributes to simplifying construction — a high-stakes, high-impact industry.
