About the company

This is a CTO opportunity with a well-established and fast-growing fintech platform based in Wellington. They've built a strong product and market position in New Zealand and are now entering their next phase — scaling platform capability, strengthening delivery maturity, and expanding internationally.

This isn't a steady-state role. You'll be joining an executive leadership team that moves fast and expects its CTO to have a point of view and back it. Board exposure is real and frequent; this is a business where technology sits at the centre of the conversation, not on the periphery.

The role

You'll take ownership of the technology strategy, platform evolution, engineering leadership, cybersecurity, and operational maturity across a team of around 40 engineers. The immediate priorities include platform stability, ISO 27001 maturity, tightening delivery practices, and helping the business become AI native alongside a dedicated Chief AI Officer.

What we're looking for

• Proven CTO, Head of Engineering, or VP Engineering calibre
• Experience scaling SaaS platforms through growth phases
• Comfortable in regulated or security-conscious environments
• ISO 27001 experience is highly desirable
• Someone who can hold their own at board level and isn't afraid to push back when it matters
• Cloud-native architecture and modern engineering environments
• The tech stack is .NET, Angular, SQL Server, and AWS
