  • A Series A funded SaaS platform with serious ambitions.
  • Own design for Family Experience and Marketplace
  • A problem-first design culture, spend as much time in discovery as in Figma
About the Company

Kindo is New Zealand’s leading school payment and e-commerce platform, used by over 800 schools and supporting 400,000 students and families. What began as a grassroots idea to simplify school lunches has grown into a nationwide solution making school life easier, fairer, and more connected.
Following a recent $15 million Series A investment from Movac, the venture firm behind companies like Vend, Auror, and Trade Me, Kindo is entering an exciting new chapter. With a clear product-market fit and a deep understanding of what schools and families need, Kindo is scaling its platform, team, and impact. The focus now is on building smarter automation, improving reporting, deepening integrations, and strengthening community support.

About the Role

This is a senior individual-contributor role owning the experience of two core product surfaces, Family Experience and Marketplace. You will be embedded in squads alongside engineers and product managers, leading design from early discovery through to build support. Most weeks you will spend as much time defining the problem as you do in Figma. The work spans iOS, Android, and web, across payments, permissions, onboarding, checkout, vendor flows, and more.

The Squads

This role owns design across two of Kindo's four product squads:

Family Experience: The family-facing app across iOS, Android, and web, including payments, permissions, calendar, notifications, and the family hub.

Marketplace: The buying experience across caregivers, students, and vendors, from browsing and checkout through to vendor dashboards and store management.

Skills & Experience
  • Senior-level product design experience with demonstrated ownership of the full lifecycle, from discovery through UX, UI, and build collaboration.
  • Strong user flow and interaction design skills, with the ability to facilitate early problem definition alongside PMs and engineers.
  • Figma proficiency, comfortable working within and contributing to a design system.
  • A habit of staying close to engineering through delivery, not just to handoff.
  • Experience working across multiple product surfaces at once in a fast-moving environment.
  • Bonus points for consumer mobile products, transactional flows, or two-sided marketplace design.
  • Bonus points for hands-on AI-assisted design (Claude, v0), familiarity with Dovetail, and experience in EdTech, FinTech, or NZ/AU consumer SaaS.

Why Work Here?
  • Shape products used every day by hundreds of thousands of New Zealand families.
  • Real design ownership of two high-impact surfaces, not pixel work to a fixed brief.
  • A team that treats AI as part of the craft, with room to build on that foundation.
  • Series A funded and growing fast, with serious revenue ambitions through to 2030.
  • A modern toolset: Figma, Claude, Dovetail, Notion, and Jira.
  • A values-led team that is kind, smart, and passionate, where those values shape how people work and treat each other.
