About the Company Our client is a well-established New Zealand software company building products used by customers around the world.
As the business continues to grow, they’re investing in the engineering capability, tooling, and processes needed to support multiple products, multiple clients, and a growing engineering team.
As part of that investment, they’re creating a new Release & Reliability team and are looking for someone to lead it.
About the Role This isn’t a greenfield platform role.
It’s the sort of role where you’ll inherit a mix of legacy systems, modern tooling, technical debt, release processes, and platform challenges that need ownership.
They’re looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, understanding how things work today, and then improving them over time. Someone who gets satisfaction from making releases smoother, platforms more reliable, and engineering teams more productive.
You’ll own the discipline around release engineering, configuration management, platform reliability, and internal developer tooling.
A big part of the role will be helping shape the company’s internal delivery platform, while supporting a broader move towards GitHub Enterprise and modern engineering practices.
What You’ll Be Doing - Owning release engineering from pipeline through to production
- Improving platform reliability and operational health
- Leading the move from Azure DevOps towards GitHub Enterprise
- Building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Managing configuration and change through Ansible
- Supporting the rollout and adoption of Forge across engineering teams
- Helping improve developer experience and engineering workflows
- Supporting the adoption of AI-assisted development tooling
What We’re Looking For - Experience owning CI/CD pipelines at scale
- Strong GitHub Enterprise experience
- Hands-on Terraform experience
- Experience with Ansible and configuration management
- Comfortable operating across both infrastructure and software delivery
- Ability to establish standards and influence senior engineers
- Interest in AI-assisted development and modern engineering practices
Why Work Here? - Opportunity to build and shape a newly formed capability
- High ownership and autonomy
- Mix of legacy, modernisation, and platform engineering challenges
- Direct impact on how software is delivered across the organisation
- Modern engineering tooling and practices
- Flexible working environment
