About the Role: This is a leadership role with real scope. You’ll step into a role that effectively functions as the CTO of a high-priority SaaS product: shaping technical strategy, overseeing execution, and leading the team through a serious growth phase. The team currently is circa 40 FTE and is scaling fast.
You’ll be responsible for everything from architectural leadership to delivery health, working closely with product and design leads, as well as key stakeholders across the business. You’ll also act as a people leader, growing capability, strengthening culture, and ensuring the team scales with maturity and momentum.
You’ll work under and alongside an incredibly experienced senior engineering leader who has spent years building highly performing teams and engineering culture for one of the world’s most well-known and renowned companies. Reporting to you will be engineering leads running squads for the various features across the SaaS product, and you’ll work closely with architecture, product teams and leadership.
This role is based in Auckland with a strong in-office culture. You’ll work across time zones with U.S.-based partners and be expected to travel occasionally to the U.S. for product alignment and strategy work.
Skills & Experience: - Proven experience scaling engineering teams in fast-moving SaaS or cloud-native environments.
- Strong technical leadership with a deep understanding of scalable architectures and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience in platform growth, cloud engineering, and team/process transformation.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to operate at both technical and executive levels.
- Comfortable working across international time zones and open to regular U.S. travel.
- Bonus: experience in startup or scale-up settings, particularly where platforms were built for speed and scale.
